We were invited to participate in a morning of music and information about a dozen different string instruments from around the world. This was a great way to start a nice summer morning. We got to sit in the shade in a friend's backyard with about 15 kids and parents while a professional musician showed us lots of different instruments, told us how they are made and played a few songs for us. GM really loves the thumb harp.
I love stuff like this, it suits all ages and is even enjoyable for Mom. The kids had a nice time and even learned a thing or two along the way.

Cool! Every year our university music department holds an "instrument petting zoo" and children's concert. They divide into groups (brass, percussion, harps, strings, woodwinds, etc.) and the children can try out more than 50 instruments. It's a big event. This year we couldn't go, but Papa did take the boys to a children's concert the next weekend.
I'm still struggling to find where music is going to fit into our Enki day.
WOW, that sounds terrific!! We do some music after movement, we just flow over to it and basically use the movement songs to continue our skip counting etc on the xylophone or the lap harp. However we did tell GM that third grade is the year to choose an instrument to study on a more serious level. So he is reluctantly shopping around.
